Cameron Gibb
Design Director

Cameron Gibb is the Founder and Creative Director of Project Basis, a graphic design consultancy based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Staying in my lane? I’ve never really been very good at it. I like problems. The bigger, messier and less easily categorised, the better.

Project Basis is my independent design practice. I work with people and organisations to figure out what something could be — and then give it a form, a voice and a visual language that makes sense.

I bring a brand brain to almost everything I do. Building an identity. Packaging a product. Shaping a publication. Working out how a story should live in a gallery, on a screen or in someone's hands.

The subject changes. The medium changes. The problem changes. The thinking doesn’t.

My work has taken me from start-ups and established businesses, to publishers, photographers, filmmakers and large international organisations. I’ve worked on books and exhibitions that have travelled to New York, Munich, Berlin and Sydney, and on storytelling that has ended up on Netflix. I’ve worked behind the camera, in the editing suite and in the design studio. With words, pictures, moving images, paper, pixels and people.

What connects it all is a fascination with finding the idea, making it clearer, giving it character — and then seeing how far that idea can travel.

I’m based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, and work with clients and collaborators wherever a good problem takes me.
